Cookie policy

Effective date: 16 September 2026

This site sets no cookies. That is the whole policy, and the rest of this page explains what it means, what happens instead, and what we have committed to doing if that ever changes.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store and to send back on each later request, which is how a site recognises a returning visitor. Similar techniques — localStorage, sessionStorage, tracking pixels, device fingerprinting — achieve comparable results by different means, and are treated the same way in this policy.

What this site does

Vantage Portal sets no cookies of its own, and permits no third party to set cookies through it. Specifically, and with nothing held back:

  • No analytics cookies. There is no analytics software on this site at all.
  • No advertising or remarketing cookies, no conversion pixels, no advertising tags.
  • No affiliate tracking cookies set by this site. The paid link on this site is an ordinary link; whatever happens after you follow it happens on the advertiser's own website, under its own policies.
  • No session or preference cookies, because the site has no accounts, no settings and nothing to remember.
  • No social media embeds, no embedded video, no comment platform, no chat widget, no tag manager, no content delivery network and no external font service — so no third party is in a position to set anything.
  • No localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB, and no browser or device fingerprinting.

The one script on this site is our own, is unminified, and can be read at /assets/main.js. It opens the navigation menu on narrow screens and marks the current page. It stores nothing and contacts nothing.

Why there is no consent banner

Consent banners exist to obtain permission for cookies and similar technologies. This site uses none, so there is nothing to ask permission for. A banner here would state that we use cookies, which would not be true, and asking for consent we do not need would make the notice less trustworthy rather than more. The absence of a banner is the honest position, not an oversight.

What happens instead

Two things, both described in full in our privacy policy.

The hosting provider's server records ordinary log entries for each request: the IP address, the browser's user agent string, the URL requested, the date and time, the response status and the amount of data sent. These are generated by the web server itself rather than stored on your device, they are used for security and diagnostics, and they are retained for no more than 30 days.

If you email us, we have your message. That is the only information you can give this site, and you have to choose to give it.

There is nothing else. Because the site requests no files from any external host — no fonts, no scripts, no images, no stylesheets from anywhere but this domain — loading a page here does not tell any other company that you were here.

Blocking and clearing cookies anyway

Nothing on this site depends on cookies, so blocking them in your browser will not affect how these pages work. Every current browser offers controls in its settings, usually under privacy or site data, to block cookies generally, block only third-party cookies, delete cookies that have already been stored, or clear browsing data on exit. The wording differs between browsers, and the browser maker's own help pages are the accurate source for the version you are running. Private or incognito windows discard cookies when the window closes, which is a convenient default for browsing generally, though it changes nothing here.

Our commitment if this changes

If this site ever introduces a cookie, a tracking technology, or any third-party script capable of setting one, three things happen before it goes live and not afterwards: this page is rewritten to describe exactly what is set, by whom, for what purpose and for how long; the privacy policy is updated to match; and a working consent mechanism is in place, so that nothing non-essential is set before consent is given. A tag deployed first and disclosed later would make every other statement on this site less believable, and we would rather not spend that.
